Crystals by Planet

Explore stones by their ruling planet, from the Sun and Moon to Saturn and Neptune.

About

Each planet in traditional astrology carries its own character — and certain crystals have been linked to those planets for centuries. This hub groups stones by their planetary rulership, so if you're drawn to a particular planet's energy, you can find the crystals that have historically gone with it.

Why

Where these connections come from

Babylonian priests were the first to assign specific stones to the seven visible planets. Medieval European lapidaries turned those assignments into formal tables, and Vedic astrology developed the nine-gem navaratna system along a parallel track.

A stone's colour and mineral composition often drove the match — red stones to Mars, golden stones to the Sun, and so on. Scott Cunningham pulled much of this into a modern reference that we draw on directly.

Questions

Common questions

What if a crystal appears under more than one planet?
It happens fairly often. Clear quartz shows up under the Moon and the Sun in different traditions. When sources disagree, it usually means the stone has qualities that fit more than one planetary archetype. Pick the planet that matches what you're looking for.
Does my Sun sign determine which planet I should look at?
Your Sun sign's ruling planet is a natural starting point, but it's not the only one. Someone going through a Saturn transit might find Saturn stones more relevant right now than their natal ruler.
Is Earth included as a planet here?
Yes. Earth doesn't rule a zodiac sign in traditional astrology, but it has its own stone associations in earth-based and modern esoteric traditions, so it gets its own card in this hub.

These are traditional and esoteric associations drawn from historical sources — not scientific fact, not medical advice, and different traditions don't always agree on the same stone-planet pairings.
